Crystal Bay

Acrylic on raw canvas.
30″ x 40″ x 1.25″

Painted using soak-stain technique on raw, unprimed canvas. As the canvas is left unsealed, subtle marks, uneven edges, and small variations in the surface are part of the process and contribute to the character of the piece. A note on light: Crystal Bay’s translucent layers reveal different qualities as the light changes. In softer light, the painting appears deeper and moodier; brighter light reveals subtle rose, green, and blue passages and the edges of overlapping stains. Photos show the painting in different lighting conditions.
